OH-18: Poll encouraging, but accurate? 46-35

Fri Jul 14, 2006 at 11:23:38 AM PDT

Well, it seems that the race in OH-18 could be more encouraging for Democrats than I had originally thought; however it is important to remember that this polling was conducted for the Zack Space Campaign.
According to a release by the Space Campaign on July 10, recent polling shows Space with a "double-digit" lead over incumbent Rep. Bob Ney (R-Corruption).

The poll was conducted for the Space Campaign by Cooper & Secrest Associates between June 28th and June 29th. It polled 503 likely voters in the OH-18. Here are the results:

    Zack Space - 46%
    Bob Ney     - 35%
    Undecided  - 19%

Yes, I am keeping in mind that this polling was conducted on behalf of and for the Space Campaign, but the numbers are more encouraging than I originally thought. The 19% of undecideds could come from independents or moderate Republicans; I'm obviously not certain. But, I refuse to become arrogant about this race simply because I have seen what Bob Ney's people are capable of.

Now, I have been extremely critical, if not harshly critical, of the Space Campaign because of its central focus on anti-Neyism. This poll shows that such a sentiment could work, but I will continue to stress that a win in 2006 doesn't guarantee anything in 2008. Furthermore, as I have stated, should Bob Ney decide to withdraw from the race, can Space continue to run on anti-Neyism? I think they are valid questions that some Kossacks don't want to face. I will continue to work for victory for Space in 2006, but I am not going to hold back my honest analysis and criticism of the race. Neither should you.
